Knitting Nancy
When one wants to learn to knit, the basic stitch of tomboy or french knitting is where to start. As a homage to one of my favourite toys from my
childhood I created Nancy. It is said Knitting Nancys, Bizzy Lizzys, Knitting Mushrooms or Knitting Noddys owe their existence to the medieval lucet. The lucet is a two pronged fork with a hole in the handle and works just like the four pronged Nancy but with two prongs. The tube of wool that Nancy creates can be used in all manner of ways. Coil and stitch to create a pot trivet or drape around a cold neck as a scarf.
